A Rough Day

Hey everyone. Today kind of sucked in terms of my diet and exercise, and I just sort of need to let it all out. In terms of my diet, I found out today that I've been getting a good deal less protein than I realized for months. All because the damn scoop that came with my protein powder was buried at the bottom of the container and I just found it. Up until tonight I just used a spoon. Well it turns out a spoon is a lot smaller than the scoop. Sigh. It's only a difference of like 10-15g of protein per day, but it still sucks to realize I've been accidentally lying to myself. At least I can do it right from here on out though. It also tastes better with more powder so that's a plus.
The big issue though is that my lifting basically fell apart today. I do Stronglifts 5x5 and it's been going great. My deadlift, bench press, and OHP have all been progressing and my form is pretty decent. My rows are moving very slowly because I have trouble with the form, but they're getting there. My squats have completely failed though. I started with dumbbells and things were great. My form was good and I was progressing. But then I stupidly switched to a Smith machine and it all went to hell. The awkward position of the bar on the machine combined with the resistance led me to start collapsing my torso when I hit the bottom of the squat. This meant I wasn't squatting up correctly either. I tried it with a lightly loaded free bar today and saw a complete 180 in my form. It was back to being decent and it felt much better. Unfortunately I'm going to have to basically start over with my squats, going back to the empty bar. It sucks losing so much progress. I'd rather start over than get hurt though. But even though I know it's for the best, it's still discouraging.
Sorry about the long rambling about bad things. I just had to get it off my chest. I'm going to try to just focus on the good and look forward to getting better. I'll hopefully be getting my own weight set this week, so that's something to look forward to!
