problems with vivoactive hr!!

I've had my vivoactive hr for about 10 months and had no problems with it. But I'm really frustrated with it today!. It turned off due to low battery (without the usual plethora of warnings). After taking it off the charger it had zeroed out and had no steps for today. But the mobile app still shows the 4117 steps I had done before it died.

I have tried everything I can think of and even though it says it is syncing over and over, the watch still shows only the steps I've taken since turning it back on, and the phone still says 4117, and has for hours. I've turned both devices on and off, logged out and back in, disconnected and reconnected bluetooth, reset the watch to factory settings, and synced it over and over and nothing changes. At this point I am more worried that it's not syncing any new steps than losing the earlier data.

Any ideas?
