I'm 4 ft 9, and do about 5000 steps a day, how many calories should I eat for losing two pounds a week.

How much do you weigh? Unless you have over 100lb to lose, you should be setting your weekly weight loss goal for less than 2lb per week.0

I weight 170 lbs0

Put your info into MFP with a 1lb a week goal. What does it tell you to eat? Try eating that amount.2

It tells me to eat 1300 cals a day should I eat all that it seems to much0

Right, so go to your homepage, click 'goals' on the menu bar, then guided set up. Enter your details - height, weight, age, and your activity level, and select 1lb per week as your weight loss goal (yes, really). Eat the number of calories the app tells you. If you do any exercise, eat 50-75% of those calories as well.2

Ok thx it's telling me to eat 1360 a day, should I really eat all that seems quite a lot. Also do you have any ideas on what to eat for meals0

Eat whatever you like, so long as you eat that number of calories for the day. Get a digital food scale, weigh all your solid foods, measure all liquids, log everything.2 -

If you're overweight, you've eaten a lot more than 1360 calories per day. You're not supposed to starve to lose weight, but you have to eat less. 1360 calories isn't a lot. You have to log correctly to make sure you are eating what you're supposed to eat.8

That seems a little low to me (but I like both my food and activity and would be chewing my arm off at so few Calories), did you put in 1lb/week loss?
Don't forget that this is just your base Calories if you are sedentary, you should log any exercise and then eat a percentage of those Calories (I have a Garmin and eat 100% of the Calories it gives me). So depending on your activity level you could end up with 1500, 1700, 2000 or more Calories to eat for that 1lb/week loss. I've lost 141lb over the last 2 years and can count the number of days where I've eaten less than 2000 on one hand.1 -

OP is really short, so the calories are probably close. I'm 5 feet tall, 120 pounds, and get just over 1200 calories when I put in a 0.5lb/week loss and sedentary.
OP -
Trust what MFP tells you BUT make sure you get a food scale and weigh your solids. You're short with a low activity level, which means you need to be as accurate as possible with your intake

If you plug your statistics into MFP (height, weight, age, gender and activity level).......5,000 steps is a high sedentary or lightly active. Select a reasonable goal......more like 1 pound a week, then MFP will give you a calorie goal.
Because you are petite, and because you aren't extremely overweight 2 pounds a week is not realistic.0 -
Oh ok thx for your replies everyone. I have set my goals to 1lb loss for one week also my active level is lightly active. My mfp is saying I should eat 1360 calories per day. I will try for 4-6 weeks and see if I loose. I'm still scared it might go the other way if I put on. I will be absolutely sure I log everything correctly. Thx again everybody.0

I am 100% certain that you didnt get to 170lbs eating 1300 cals....1 -
No that's right I have been yo yo dieting for years and been wanting to loose weight for ages but don't get any luck because I have always thought that eating three meals in a day without counting will make me fat, which has resulting me on putting weight. Then when I don't eat I skip meals then I end up binge eating but now I'm going to eat three balance meals and two snacks if I'm hungry between meals. I'm going to schedule my day as
7-8am cereal special k with milk
11-12am lunch : wholemeal sandwich with egg, cheese or chicken plus fruit and yoghurt.
2pm snack fruit
5-6pm: homemade meal of 4-500 calories.
Hopefully it should work as long as I eat my 1360 calories. It's just that I have my lunch early because I go to work then come back home for 1.30pm. Should I swap that 12pm lunch for a snack then have lunch at 1.30pm ? I'm so so confused in my head.0 -

You're way over thinking it. Have lunch when you're hungry, 12 or 1.30 doesn't matter.0 -

Agreed. Start simple and experiment as you go along. You will figure out what works for you.1 -
Thx again everyone for being so helpful0
