Started working out and started gaining weight

For almost 2 months I have been restricting my calorie intake, following the Cambridge diet, I was down to loosing 17lbs. I started working out, as I want to tone what I am loosing as well. I usually run 1mile 1/2, bicep curl, leg curl, leg press, sit ups, push ups. Hopped back on the scale for my weigh in and I gained 3lbs. I still am using Cambridge diet, having 2 shakes a day, and then preparing my supper. As of late, maybe I have been eating too many carbs for dinner. That's the only thing I can think of. I have been really diligent about watching my portions. Any suggestions please.
