I figured I would just put a message out introducing myself and a quick summary. I am not normally a social media/forum/blog type person, but maybe checking in every now and then will help. I am 47 year old mom of two grown kids. I recently went through a horribly debilitating depression lasting at least three years (lots of dumb things contributed to that mess). I am working a low stress job at the local upscale hotel, managing the place for the overnight hours. I have started walks of 3 miles this week. I am cutting out empty calories. Several years ago, I lost 30 lbs in five months by walking so I know I can do it again. I have a few health issues making some exercises impossible so I will stick with what works. I decided to make the committment to myself to do this. I am getting better at making and kerping committments now that the worst of the depression is over. I am looking forward to a much more positive outlook! Thanks for your support! - Elizabeth

Hey Elizabeth! You sound like you're well on your way to your goal! I'm similar to you, as in not really being a social media kind of person, but if I can give inspiration and support to others aiming for the same goal as me, then that's a great thing all round. It sounds like you have already achieved so much by bringing up your kids to getting through depression! You come across as a very determined woman and would love to help you through your journey of getting fitter. I'm in week 2 of healthy eating and the gym 3 times a week. I'm 49 so my motto at the moment is I want to be fit for 50 not fat haha.. so fingers crossed I'll get there x

Hi Elizabeth. Well its a day for similarities today then... Me too. Ive just logged on. Updated my dormant account and I'm with you... Fed up with depression. Need to make a change. Im good at committing just better at failing, so I have had a word with Hugo, my mastiff this morning, and pledged an uphill walk every day that he can pull me up if I falter. So good luck, I will be rooting for you and for Jayne2950 too
