Garmin Swim Watch

Hi everyone
I've just come back to swimming after a long-ish break. I'm quite a data-orientated person, I like stats about my workouts (one of the reasons I stopped swimming was not being able to tell what it was doing for me calorie-wise). I'm a Garmin junkie for cycling and running, is the Garmin swim watch worth it? Anyone use one and can give some experiences?
Thanks

Garmin multisport watches, such as the Fenix or 920XT, track swim, bike and run very well. I have a 920 w/ chest strap HRM. It can track both indoor pool or open water swims, counts laps, strokes, etc. You can also buy a swim specific HRM chest strap to track HR in the water. I know roughly 20 people in my tri club who use either the 920 or Fenix. I have not really heard any complaints about the functionality of the swim tracking features.

Another vote for the 920....it's officially discontinued and you can get some great deals on them now and use the same watch for swimming, biking & running (and when you put them all together it's also got a triathlon setting)0

I think the Vivoactive can do more than the swim can. The swim is really old. I know the 735 can, but $$$1

I've only ever heard good things about it but I think the Fenix and Forerunner watches replaced it?0

Thanks guys. Yikes at the price of the multisport watches though!! >£250 is a little more than I have to spend....0

I sent my Garmin Swim back. Despite trying different methods could not get accurate lap count and could not get the website appbyo work.1

I want one too, but I just use my phone/chest HRM for everything else, including open water swimming (in my safety buoy). So a watch would be just for lap swimming, which just doesn't quite seem necessary, since I have gotten pretty good at counting and timing the laps. I also check my HR manually at the end of sprints. What else do you really need to know?
PS Swam 3000yds today!0 -
I have a Garmin swim watch. I got it because I already have an older running GPS (310XT) that doesn't have swim functionality but otherwise is perfectly fine for my needs, so I didn't want to spring for a newer model.
It doesn't have GPS functionality, so I don't know how well it would work for open water, but I find it works great for lap swimming in a pool.0
