Hi, I'm a 71 year old male from the deep south. I'm trying to lose my belly fat and have more energy.

Good luck Kin. Having never really been a calorie counter, this site has changed my mind. No matter what the popular diets claim, it all comes down to basic math, calories in vs calories out. This site will do the math, and the food data base is pretty extensive. Through trial and error, I've found it to be most accurate if I set the activity level to sedentary in the Goals section, and log absolutely everything you eat/drink (if not, your only lying to yourself). It's arduous at first, but gets to be routine after a few days. Any regular fitness routine will boost the energy level after a week or so; plus you'll be allowed to consume more calories. Good luck and God Bless.0
