So I'm going to visit a friend and we're going to go out for dinner. It's a local place and has a menu online but no nutritional info. I'm planning to get the beet burger with a side salad. Any ideas?

You'll have to play it by ear but keep in mind that many vegan and vegetarian dishes can still be pretty high in calories. Search the database to triangulate against other restaurant veggie burgers. They won't be the same but you'll have a ballpark to work with if nothing else.

The bun likely has 250-300 calories or so. The patty is a bit starch heavy with the lentils and rice. Assuming that it's a 12 ounce patty with beets making up a third of that (it better be a big burger for that price), the patty will probably be something like 350 calories once you account for binders, etc. You can probably count the aioli similar to mayo/oil (about 100 calories per tablespoon).

I'd probably call the burger 700-750 calories or so to be safe plus whatever dressing you use on the salad.

I would probably search for recipes that sounded similar on line and figure out the calories based on that, but I do think 700ish calories is reasonable (depending on the size of the bun and the burger).

I just googled 'vegan lentil beet burger recipe' and got a bunch of results. If it were me, I'd check out several, then put the one that seems most similar into the recipe builder. You might have to guesstimate until you actually see the restaurant's version. Same with the roll. Estimate the size, then search here for whatever description seems close, such as 'roll, whole wheat brioche' or whatever. You can use a generic mayonnaise entry for the aioli and should be close enough.

Or just call it 700 calories, plus any side dishes.
