The best laid plans.....

So, we had to go to a house party last night where the food was going to be all appetizers. I planned all day to have 2 glasses of wine, and left plenty of calories to "graze" hoping for some healthy choices. I made an appetizer to bring (request of my hubby) which when I calculated calories, they were 113 calories EACH! (small bacon/cheese cup things). Well, the host poured me a glass of red wine and as I took my first sip- IT WAS AWFUL! Obviously had been an open bottle that sat for awhile- tasted like bad vinegar. I don't know these people well, so I was not comfortable telling them. I pretended to "sip" on it for about an hour. I poured it out when I had the opportunity to go unnoticed and roamed the room with an empty glass. Low and behold the host came around with a bottle of red ( we had been there over and hour and a half by now, and surely, he must have had a new bottle by now) so I let him pour me another glass which he drained the bottle, and NOPE, same bad wine!! I "sipped" for a while, then saw the opportunity to dump it in the kitchen sink, filled my wine glass with water, and happily mingled with guests, no one even noticed my drink! As for the food- lots of creamy dips, crackers, chips, etc. Knowing my bacon cups were 113 cal each, I took 2, and had some fresh shrimp, and plain raw veggies. I know I was WAAAAY under my calorie allotment, but I felt so in control! Didn't even look at the desserts. I know I could have had some, but they just weren't worth the unhealthy calories. All in all, a fun night, I found out I could actually enjoy a party without wine, and food wasn't even an issue for me. Yeah!!

Hey! This belongs in Non-Scale-Victories! Excellent! (And I agree with you. Life's too short to drink lousy plonk!)
