Weight increased 5 days in a row despite calories way below daily budget

I have found that my weight has gone up by 2.5 lbs over the last 5 days (1/2 lb each day) despite the fact that I have been counting calories with MFP and consuming way under my "budget". My goal is 1760 and I was at about 1200-1300 per day all week.
Yet weight going up! How is this possible?
Each time I have weighed myself first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything, and after going to the bathroom.

Have you possibly started a new exercise regime? X1

Yes recently. Doing quite a lot of running. Are you saying it could be muscle weight going on?1

No, but it could definitely be water retention12 -
You are retaining water. You started a new exercise and your muscles retain water to help them heal. It's not permanent gain! It'll come off! I hope that helps!2

I echo the water, I started running and mine crept up and a week or two later it levelled out and started dropping and has continued to drop. Well done on starting your new regime! X2
