Reading glasses in the weight room?!

Do you have to wear reading glasses in the weight room to read your routine and record your results? I do and it's highly annoying! One more thing to deal with in addition to card, pencil (or phone), towel, and water!

My excel spreadsheet is on my phone and I just swipe it bigger until I can read the darn thing.5

I wear mine over contacts and don't like leaving them on while doing the exercise, just for reading and writing. So it's constant on and off.1

Not yet...I just got my first pair of reading glasses and they're the lowest prescription...0

I bought a dozen of those magnifying cards off of amazon. I put them everywhere. At least that wouldn't have to go on your face.3

Write bigger, use larger type on your plan, get used to your glasses.0 -
Not in the gym, but I carry these in my race vest when I'm running. Largely so that I can read my map.

How apropriate you should post this @Lorrpb. I got my first pair of glasses the beginning of August, my phone and note book were getting really fuzzy.
I am getting by in the gym with writing a little bigger so I don't have to keep putting my glasses on. I am not comfortable in them enough to wear them in the gym yet- scared of breaking the expensive little bug-gers.
They are quite fun though- known as my 'spectaculars' as there is nothing subtle about them.
Cheers, h.2 -
Hmm. No. I don't have anything with me when working out. I put my phone and keys in a little cubby hole in the weight area. My "routine" is simple enough to where I can always remember what weight I'm on.0

The only thing that I can't seem to tackle is sleeping without imprinting them on my head.
Same. I wear mine all the time and have a strap for my "gym glasses" so they stay on my head and don't slip. My gym glasses are just my pair of older/backup glasses that I don't mind getting a little grodier.0 -
As someone who completely understands your problem, I've had to use a larger font size on my workout tracking sheet. YMMV.0

I wear contacts in monovision configuration. Left near for reading (I'm left eye dominant) and noral rt for distance. So, no need for reading glasses.
I also have a pair of glasses in this configuration that I can use for reading, but seldom use them because I wear my contacts most of the time and usually wear normal 20/20 corrected glasses at home.
If you've never heard of monovision, ask your optometrist about it.1 -
I would print my friend's program in large, bold type so she could read it without her cheaters0

I do weights on my back patio with my ray bans on.4

could be the reason why i stick to extremely simple programmes. need to be able to hold the numbers in my head because keeping notes . . . no.
with that said, no experience of reading glasses. i guess they're actively counter-productive when you're not focusing on something at reading distance? i wear the regular kind that neer come off while my eyes are open, and never even thought of them being an issue with lifting. basically, i guess in my mind: if my glasses are falling off then i really NEED a form check.0 -
I keep them with my log book so I can see what I'm writing - Eastcoast Jim0

Thanks for all your thoughts. My glasses don't slide off. They're end of nose style readers and it's just visually annoying to have them on when not reading or writing. I can't use the kind that sits on the bridge of your nose because then I can't see to walk. I did rewrite my workout card larger with a dark marker, but it didn't make enough difference and the marker actually made it less clear because the letters were too fat. Guess I just need to get past the annoyance of leaving them on lol.0

Just to add... I don't wear readers, but I do wear glasses. They stay on for all activities besides swimming. I am very near-sighted, so they are very necessary. I have no problem lifting in glasses. They only bother me with cardio if I forget and wear my heavy pair or if I'm super sweaty and doing something in plank and they start bouncing or sliding.1

Same. Except I don't have a heavy pair (mine are too expensive to have a spare pair).
Thankfully, mine are well fitted and generally don't slide around much, even while running, though running in the rain is a pain because it's hard to see. I generally don't go out in anything more than a very light drizzle.0 -
Hmmm all this feedback from regular glasses wearers is very interesting.
For me, I think I just have to get use to wearing them. 2 months of adjusting so far, so I don't think I am doing too bad.
I have a small head and still have to keep going and having the fit adjusted.
Cheers, h.

Ask your eye doctor for bifocal contacts. I wear mine all the time and they do help a lot. I only ear reading glasses when the writing is very small.1
