I have a 27 inch waist right now with just a little bit of defenition. My abdomen is flat and that’s all. Are there any exercises I can do to get a more hourglass figure? Ideally a 22 inch waist.

That's a huge amount to lose off your waist if you don't have much day to lose. Take up weight training and see what you can do. I've maintained for a year but lost a couple inches off my waist. No special exercises, just full body strength training.

If you're at a healthy weight, then it seems unlikely that you would be able to lose 5 inches off your waist. Body shape is largely genetic. If you want to create the illusion of a more curvy shape, I'd suggest doing a progressive training programme such as Strong Curves: http://www.strongcurves.com/

If you already have an definition then I can't see how you can lose 5 mire inches. Work on building up shoulders and glutes instead.

If you're already lean, this is likely not going to happen. That's like wanting to reduce your shoe size by 5 sizes when you're already wearing something that fits properly.

I agree with others, 5 inches on youre frame is probably a lot. I would say your better off to develop you lats, glutes, shoulders to get that 'barbie doll' type look. Waist stays the same, but everything above and below is more muscular, so the waist looks smaller in comparison.

Honestly, with 27" waist and wanting to lose more, I worry you may have a body image/eating disorder. Not saying you do, esp since you only have the one pic that doesn't show much, but just a red flag without more to go on.

I have a 28 inch waist and that's probably the smallest it will ever go. I have a very big rib cage for my size and height. My doctor has commented on it as well but it's normal. But unless I waist train to the max or wear a corset (which I wouldn't recommend but that's me) that's about the smallest I'll go.
