Moved from Fitbit to Apple Watch - help!!

Apologies if this has been asked before. I used to have a Fitbit, so I am used to one app tracking steps, exercise and food. What I like the best is that as I entered my food it automatically calculated numbers of calories left for the day, plus I could programme my deficit for weight loss.
So, now I have an Apple Watch and I’m a bit lost trying to get MFP and the watch to record data like the Fitbit.
I’ve synced the watch and MFP. If I enter my food; will all my activity and exercise register with MFP and will it work out my calories remaining automatically?
Thanks!
