I have been on MFP for over a year, my start weight was 9kg more than my weight at the start of September, I was doing well, running three/four times a week, etc.

Then I moved to university and it was freshers for two weeks (constant partying) so I was too hungover to do any exercise and since I am in catered accomodation and it is the start of university everyone is eating like pigs and I let myself go thinking one slice of cake won't matter....every day for the past week I have been saying that.

I want to stop but when the food is there I lack the self-control to stop myself from eating it. I am distraught since I had made so much progress, I thought that I would have gained 2kg or so.

Will this weight come off easily? I have bought a gym membership and I will realistically go three times a week.

Also, any tips to help me control myself around food? I can't log what I eat because the food is made for me...

Thanks in advance!

Yes you can log. Pretend it is a restaurant. Log the best you can it will still give you a better idea than no log.
Weight is more food than exercise.

You can make logical guesses. There are lots of database entries. Did the cake have lots of frosting.. pick a higher entry. Some entries have measurements one inch by one inch... You can double it.

Everything will be made with lots of sodium if it's instant food (it's got to keep). However, is there an omelette making station (they had that when I went) lots of veggies and once you get to know them they'll do two eggs and some egg whites. (Though there's nothing wrong with eggs, that suggestion was just to keep Calories down)

Walk past the things you know are hard to manage (for me that's bread). And make educated guesses when logging. Drink lots of water so that you don't go crazy when eating.

    You can do it!

If you don't start logging seriously, you don't know for sure how much you're eating. Do you really want to keep on as you are? You'll have alot more to lose in a couple of months. Watch the drinking--lots of calories there. Exercise is good, but it's overeating that packs on the pounds (or kilos). Eat right, and don't go over your calorie goal. You can choose meats, fish and vegetables over sweets, giving yourself a treat now and again, not constantly.
