Can someone give me advice on how to lose thigh weight? I have started walking a mile 3 days a week. Is this enough? Do I need to do more? Kind of scared to do more since I had a spinal fusion a year ago.

Thanks.

Eat in a calorie deficit and you'll lose weight from everywhere. You can't choose where the weight comes off from, and while exercise is good for your body it won't do anything unless you can guarantee you're in that deficit.

There is no way to target specific areas for fat loss. But losing weight will eventually lead to losing weight there. Some people lose from legs first, some last.

Walking may help preserve your thigh muscles, especially if you can so some strength training compatible with your spinal fusion. That could make your legs look more "toned" whether or not fat comes off that area.

I am trying to eat 1200 calories a day. I walk for 25 minutes (about a mile). Im 5’7- 184lbs. I dont know if that would be considered eating in a calorie deficient. I’m new to this and trying to learn, how to cut calories.

A calorie deficit means you are eating less than your body burns for the entire day. 1200 would guarantee you're in a deficit based on your stats, but it may be too low.

I’ve got big thighs. I’m the thinnest I’ve been in my adult life and I still have big thighs.

I think they are genetic. Weight loss occurs over the entire body. If my thighs were as thin as I’d like, I’d be too bony elsewhere....

Walking/running and squats help firm them though.

Walking 1 mile 3 times per week is not going to do anything specific to make your thighs smaller.

It probably does create a 100 calorie burn for you though. Couple that with eating less and you WILL lose weight. I am 5'7" and 145 lbs and my thighs are pretty slim. Depending on how you carry your weight, you will probably need to lose 20-30 lbs to get them smaller.

    That's not even lightly active.

Weigh solid foods, measure liquids with a measuring cup or spoon, and log everything you eat using solid nutrition info. Eat in a moderate deficit. Setting MFP for one pound a week would be reasonable. Do that for 4 weeks then adjust calories up or down based on results.
