Gym newbie

So my hubby got me a gym membership for my birthday back in august. To be honest, I don’t really know what I’m doing when I’m there! I use the treadmill, exercise bike, rowing machine and free weights.
I was wondering what people’s workout routines are and what you use when your there? I’ve not lost hardly any weight since going so I guess it’s water retention and hoping the weight will start moving soon?
Thanks in advance x

Definitely go in with a structured program.
I see Strong Curves and 5x5 recommended a lot.
I've used the Buff Dudes channel on YouTube. Currently on my 2nd program from the bodybuilder.com site. Lots of stuff out there.1 -
I usually follow a routine that was made for me by a group of doctors from the cardiac rehab clinic (for diastolic heart failure, which means my heart's too strong due to high blood pressure), pushing myself a little bit harder each session.
The basic routine is:
Warm-up for 5 minutes (any slow cardio would work, like slow walking on the treadmill)
NuStep for 10 minutes (aka rowing machine)
Arm ergometer for 10 minutes (hand bike)
Bike for 10 minutes
Treadmill for 10 minutes
Bicep curls (15 reps, 2 sets)
Shoulder Lifts (15 reps, 2 sets)
Cooldown for 5 minutes (same as the warm-up, used to bring the heartrate down)1 -

Well I would like to lose another 7lb and a dress size. So toning is the name of the game I guess.0

toning isn't really a thing- you want to reduce your bodyfat.

that's probably the best link for strength training, and then do 2-3 x a week cardio.
set your cals to lose 0.5lb per week and make sure you get enough protein to maintain muscle mass.1
