Hi

I'm a little past 3 weeks into the process of wanting to lsoe aboutl 20lbs...lost 9 lbs the first 2 weeks and now , after another 1,5 weeks have gone up 2 lbs...am a bit frustrated...i Wonder when you need to start questionning what you eat or how much you eat if there is no weight loss after a few weeks...I stick to the calories allowed and chose healthy foods but i seem to be stuck...unless i'm just not persistant enough!

That's how weight loss works. You'll never lose steadily, no matter what you do. That's why people tell you that you need patience. It's a waiting game, but in the end, if you believe the process and follow what MFP tells you, you'll lose what it says OVER TIME.

If what you are doing is too restrictive, you may need to find something that works for you and doesn't make you miserable...

While I was losing the scale would stay the same, ever day for about 7-9 days, then I'd "whoosh" and lose 2lbs. But since I was trying for 1lb/week, it all evened out in the end.

you need to consider your hormones & where you are in your monthly cycle as well.

Are you weighing yourself daily or once a week? Your body weight will fluctuate from day to day. If you only weigh once per week, you can very easily catch yourself on a low day one week and high day the next. Your weight fluctuates based on hormones, how much food is in your digestive tract, sodium intake, carb intake, changes in exercise intensity, etc. If you haven't seen a net downward movement on the scale over the course of a menstrual cycle, or 6-8 weeks if you have no period, it is time to reduce calories.

9 pounds in two weeks is a big loss! Too much really. My guess is that the drastic measures you took the first 2 weeks resulted in not only a great weight loss but also a lot of water weight loss. With time your body has rehydrated itself again which has appeared as a weight gain, but it's not really. You need to be patient and trust MFP.
