Hi I new at all this and have no support system in place. My husband has been deployed for the 3rd time so perfect time to loose the 50 pounds I've had creep up on me. It's just me and my two boys and my husky kenai he's my walking buddy. We live in an area I have no friends and no family. I also have no idea why I'm typing all this. Basically the last month I've started rrally working my butt off the fix my health bad labs pre diabetes hi triglycerides in the 500s high cholesterol good and bad. I managed to quit smoking after 25 years a pack a day, 8 months now. Now I'd like to work on loosing the 55 pounds that are killing me, depression not sleeping can't stand to look at myself. I've cut calories to 1300 I have started 45 minutes of active workouts and usually log at least 10,000 steps it just doesn't seem to be making much of difference yet trying not to get discouraged or be negative I'm horrible at that. I will keep pushing along

Make sure you've set your calories to something you can live with, not just a calorie deficit, and conversely, that you're tracking correctly so that you don't inadvertantly eat more than you think (and then maybe not creating a calorie deficit). Also expect weight loss to be slow; a 1% loss of your bodyweight is a good average weekly result, and because of water weight fluctuations, not even being on point all the time will make your weight loss mainfest itself in a straight downward line.

Then to exercise - moderate exercise is good for you, but make sure you aren't over-exhausting yourself, or forcing yourself to do something you absolutely hate. You have to get out of your comfort zone, but exercise is competing with the sofa, so do what you can to even out the odds. The only exercise that is effective, is the excercise you actually do, so a lot is at stake. Don't keep on pushing unless you know you're pushing the right button. Sometimes you just have to wait to let things take effect.

If you are depressed, or having any self image issues, and not just fed up with being overweight, seek professional help. At any rate, work on your sleep. Exercise and eating better can help with sleep, by getting in regularity to your day.
