Wanting more carbs?

So I've just been restricting my calories a bit this week, since I'm always eating over (1800+) which is over my TDEE and BMR, subsequently. That may explain the slight weight gain, or it may not. I really dunno.

So anyways I'm restricting my caloric intake just a bit, and I've felt like lately I feel a need for more carbs. I'm not pursuing a ketogenic diet in any way (in fact my macros are 45-35-20 carbs, protein, and fat respectively), please keep this in mind, so why do I feel the need to eat more carbs lately (whether it be a Clif bar or an apple - simple vs. complex) than are required for my daily serving? (No it's not my TOM).

Just wondering if this happens to some of you, and if so what the reasons could be (as in the 'if your body needs something, it signals it to you' concept)? Thanks!

I find that my energy levels drop dramatically if I restrict carbs. If my weight plateaus, I tend to switch to low carb, but then my workouts suffer. I have plenty of "full power" with high protein but without carbs, I have no muscle power.
I find it quite difficult to get a happy medium, but I have the same problem as you.
The thing I've found is that if I combine more raw seeds, then the energy problem resolves itself. they may be higher in fats, but they give me the push I need when the carbs are low. Try that.

Thank you! I think I will increase my intake of healthy fats, and see how that works for me.
