Hi everyone (Not sure if this posts to friends or to the masses)

I was a regular gym goer but setbacks have certainly got in the way.

In 2012 I tore my adductor playing football which set me back almost a year

In 2015/2016 I started to experience pain in my chest which was diagnosed by the doctor and gave me the understanding why I was constantly short of breath

And this year I have suffered with sharp pain around my shoulder which was diagnosed with calcium deposits around the rotator cuff. A cortisone injection was the remedied outcome.

Now I’m feeling great with the exception of the weight I’ve put on. I have joined this community to get some tips, advice and general support from people who have been what I’ve been through.

What am I wanting to achieve? I get married in 2 years so I want to change my life for good. I need consistency, not a 12 week shredded plan or a 4 week ab plan. I am speaking to some fantastic people who have given great advice already.

What I’m asking is to those who have suffered with set backs is what did you do to change and after 2 years have you stuck to your plan?

Thanks everyone

My husband has had various injuries 9ver the years (including a fractured back, 30cm DVT, shoulder issues treated with cortisone, born with a hole in his heart)

Some were team sport related, others not. We've trained in the gym throughout (except during his fractured back), he just altered his training, with the help of a physiotherapist, to work around the issues. He also makes time to surf, and tries to stay fit for that.

Sometimes we are prepping for comps, or aiming to put on muscle or gain strength, at other times training is more relaxed and just for fun without a specific focus. We train together, and plan our training days - we go whether we want to or not! We also have similar goals/beliefs when it comes to diet choices and prep/plan food together.

Now 50lbs lost and 50 to go. Have added you

    Hi Marc.
Congratulations on taking the first step to a healthier you.
How refreshing to see you accept and understand that this is FOREVER!

I joined MFP 25 months ago.
92 pounds down (with another 43 to go).
    It's tough., challenging and frustrating.
What you will find, is we are all different.
What works for one, won't work for another.

It is CICO and staying within your daily caloric intake.
That's all you need to start with.
Just take it a step at a time.

I have sent you a friend request and am happy to support you through this journey.
