It's like meditation...or medication

This is my 2nd year having exercise as a full time commitment. I LOVE DOING IT!
I either run or do DDP yoga. I gotta say tho, I love running more. It's very relaxing, like meditating- I like to joke how I'm running away from my problems. I also notice when I don't run or even exercise at all I'm cranky. My husband doesn't understand it. He goes to the gym on the regular but for him he sees it as "you gotta do what you gotta do, even if you don't like it" BUT I DO LIKE IT!

Does anyone else enjoy their exercise?...and feel cranky or out of sorts when they don't get it?

I've never seen anyone maintain a consistent exercise routine long term doing things they don't like doing...short term sure...but long term as in the rest of your life, I've never seen it.

    I'm a cycling enthusiast...I love it.

And that is why, even though I don't enjoy exercising, I have managed to do it consistently for 10 years come January.
(Minus the rest and vacation breaks) I change what I am doing regularly- so no consistency in what I do, just consistency in doing something.

I'm not a cyclist, runner, swimmer, or lifter, I am a jack of all trades. I will never be awesome at anything, and that is ok because I know if I have managed to do things I would have never have dreamed of now, I can take this approach forward into even older age :).

    Cheers, h.

I do read posts from people as enthusiastic about their sport as you are and wish I was, but I'm not, and I have learnt to be ok with that.

I started running back in August and I love it! I was running every day for maybe a month until I started hanging around here and realized maybe that wasn't the best way to progress. So I switched to four days a week, then last week my knee was like, "f- you trying to run in your worn-out old shoes, go get your credit card", so I made myself stop running until I got new shoes and for a couple more days after that for good measure. I don't think I was cranky, but I was definitely antsy, and it felt really good to get back in the swing of things this morning!

ETA: I'm going out of town this coming weekend to stay in a cabin with a bunch of friends, and one of the things I'm genuinely looking forward to is running somewhere other than my neighborhood.

I run and love it. I also like to walk a lot, and I've found a lifting routine I rather get along with as well. I look forward to it all every day.

I like walking and running. I love Pilates reformer and could happily do it every day if it wasn't so darn expensive.

Running is my therapy. I've been running pretty consistently for over a decade now and find it's a great way to start my day. On my non-running days you'll find me at the pool or on my bike or a combination thereof.

I used to enjoy the time in the gym. It freed my mind, gave me space to breathe while making me feel healthy and like I was accomplishing something.
Somehow I lost that. I am actually today planning to go back to the gym (after being busy/sick and then lacking motivation). I really hope I will find that peace again.
