I was wondering if many members take vitamins or supplements, and if so what ones do you take any why do you take them certain ones. Thanks

I take the ones I need. B2 and Magnesium because I was told to take them for migraines, Vitamin D because I'm always deficient. I just pop them in the morning.

Yeah, a few. A multi (general insurance), fish oil (brain), vitamin D (probably deficient), magnesium (probably deficient), taurine and creatine (muscle stuff). Green powder, cacao, coffee (for the polyphenols, hormesis response).

This is at the micronutrient level so you're unlikely to see big, dramatic responses unless something's horribly wrong with you (maybe the magnesium is pretty obvious with avoiding muscle cramps). All the stuff I take is dirt-cheap and I'm happy enough with the evidence I've seen advocating them. But they're not a big deal either way.

Unless a test reveals an actual deficiency, they're a waste of money. Buy food not pills.

I take a multi vit, calcium and vitamin D due to a bone density condition I have, other wise I'd just take a multi vit

With GP's recommendation I take a multi-vit with iron (family history of anemia, I'm borderline) and calcium. Also fish oil for mah brains (that's not GP recommended). But for me I agree with @feisty_bucket, the money is negligible and the evidence compelling enough for me.

    • Protein, because I'd rather have more flexibility with my food rather than having to focus all my eating around protein
    • Vitamin D, because I live in the armpit of the world.
    • Broad spectrum multivitamin, because my diet sucks and a multi is good insurance.
    • Caffein, because it's awesomeness in a capsule.
    • Advil/Aleve, because I'm old and something always hurts.

    - b12 (im vegan)
    - vitamin d3
    - iodine since I don't use table salt enough to reach rdi and sodium in processed food doesnt tend to be fortified with iodine
    - I use protein powder sometimes
