how long before you lose the water weight after binging?

on sat I drank too much vodka (6-8 shots) and ate around 3000 cal. since sat I have only been eating 500-700cal a day. not really on purpose, I just haven't been doing too well emotionally to eat. and yes, I know this is stupid and has made things worse!

anyway, I don't have scale but I look massively bloated and puffy. my stomach now looks 5 months pregnant!
Also, I've been drinking alcohol a lot for the past 2 weeks (around 1500ml of vodka) but its always within my calorie limit.

I could not have gained more than 4 lbs of actual fat, right? I look like I've gained 20lbs though so Im hoping its mostly water weight....which is not going away! could I have gained more permanent weight?





PS. Im not an alcohol. I do realize my pattern for the past 2 weeks has been like an alcohol but its only been this 2 weeks (im dealing with family issues, not very well obviously!)

    Maybe speak to a doctor as you're obviously not dealing with the family issues at the moment, you're drinking your feelings which isn't healthy.

    If you're drinking so much and fitting it into your cals you aren't getting adequate nutrition.

    Eat at maintenance so you've one less thing to stress about.

    With no scale no way to really see a trend in your weight. Since you are dealing with family issues, drinking a lot more alcohol and now not eating very much at all now, I can see you doing a lot of excess stress to your body.

    Stress is major factor at play. When your stress is back under control and when you get back to eating your normal diet it will stabilize.

    I went to a beer festival on Saturday. It is Wednesday and my weight is finally within 1 lb of my Friday weight (before the beer fest). I also ate a lot, not logging, on Sunday. So... for me... 3-4 days of eating a balanced diet after a boozey binge is what it takes. After a binge like mine I don't go way under daily calories. Instead, I watch my sodium intake, drink lots of water, and try to get high fiber foods since alcohol makes bathroom visits too effective.

    You have other things going on. You will have trouble with your body if your mind is still stressed. It's harder to make good choices when stressed. I'd say eat at maintenance and dedicate your energy to fixing things in your life (which could mean distancing yourself from them).

    I had a holiday in Rome last week - and didnt diet at all - lots of wine. came back and was horrified to have put on 3kg. 3kg is 30000 calories. One week later its all gone and ive lsot another 2 pounds. I guess it was mostly water and dropped off after decent rest.
