Healthiest way to lose 10lbs in 12 days without exercising. I’m having surgery for hip replacement on the 31st. I really need to lose 10lbs to help with rehab. I have lost 30lbs in the last 4 months and need the last 10 to reach my goal.

Not possible to do it and do it healthily. Depending on your stats, *maybe* you can lose two pounds total safely, but you would have to have a deficit of 2916 calories each day to lose .83 pounds a day. That's not at all possible unless you typically require 4116 calories a day at maintenance.
What makes you think that if it took you four months to lose 30, that you can get the next 10 off in only 12 days?14 -
It isn't possible to lose that much fat in 12 days. I couldn't lose that much fat in 12 days if I stopped eating completely.8

Impossible.1

Cutting off a limb is the only way.
I couldn't do it in 12 days even with exercising.
Just lose what you can before then in a healthy fashion because you want to remain strong and healthy so you have optimum recovery.5 -
Never gonna happen. Even unhealthily.0
-
That's not going to happen. Head into your surgery/recovery in a healthy manner rather than feeling like garbage due to being undernourished.5
-
What did your doctor tell you? Did your doc tell you to lose 10 lbs several months ago? Because I can't imagine your doc wants you to crash diet right before surgery.11

As everyone has said, not possible unless you are very obese and you can drop a lot of water weight that will come right back on again.0
-
If you eat a TAD or carb heavy diet, you could switch to a LCHF/Keto meal plan. This could reduce glycogen stores, resulting in less water retention. Reducing/eliminating sodium can have a similar effect. I, personally, can drop anywhere from 4-6 lbs in a couple days, by lowering carbs and restricting sodium intake. YMMV, but its highly doubtful you have enough water retention to be able to drop 10 lbs. in so short a period, without becoming dehydrated.
Any water weight you lost this way you would gain right back, if you switch your meal plan back.
If your looking to lose fat, anything more than 2lbs./week wouldn't be considered healthy without medical supervision. No way its possible without exercise, would be difficult with it ( think Biggest Loser situation with nutrition and intensive training support ).
It takes positive, sustainable changes to have a lasting impact. It also takes time. Do what you can to get a head start, but don't risk your health further by trying to rush the process ... that's the best advice I can give you.5 -
Build a time machine - go back 10 weeks or so - start there.
Really 10 lbs in only 12 days just isn't a reasonable/realistic goal at all.4 -
Ain't gonna happen. No point in stressing yourself out pre-surgery. Eat nutritiously so your body is prepared for recovery. I'd stick to a modest deficit (around 250 calories under TDEE) and try to get a lot of healthy veggies, protein and fats so you're feeling great for your surgery day. Good luck.4

Not possible. I don't mean unlikely. I mean impossible. 3500cal a day deficit is needed each day and without exercise even if you don't eat anything at all you still can't make this defict because your body just doesn't burn that much.2

It can be done VERY UNSAFELY. I have done it in years past and I was at a 'normal' BMI (23) however I made myself SO unwell. It was water and muscle wastage I'm positive. I ate nothing but cabbage soup and I had no energy, my stomach hurt, my skin was bad, I was short tempered. It was not a nice experience. If someone has recommended that loss in that timeframe to you they need their licence revoking!2

Had anybody suggested meth yet? You'll stop eating, get all jittery, and your teeth will fall out. Plus you'll burn a lot of calories running from the police after robbing a 711.
But that doesn't cover the safely part. At the rate you want to lose, nothing will make it happen safely.17 -

If your surgeon requires the extra 10# off before surgery, then delay the surgery. I would spend these 12 days probably at maintenance or just slightly below to avoid any weight gain. Your weight after the surgery may be a little off with the IV fluids and inflammation. I would talk to a dietician either pre-op or just before going home to help determine your caloric, protein, and other nutritional requirements for healing. This won't be a time for a massive deficit as it may impair your ability to heal and regain your full range of motion and ability. It doesn't mean you need a huge caloric surplus either, but I would focus on healing and regaining your strength through your whole post-operative period- I would assume you will have PT. Once cleared for full activity you will likely be right on track to resume achieving your goals. Trying to take shortcuts now will possibly hamper your progress which could have lasting implications.2

And if they do a pre op blood test they will.no doubt cancel any op.as she isn't healthy enough to tolerate the anesthesia
Agreed! I absolutely wouldn't recommend even trying, it's really not worth undoing all the good work you have done losing weight steadily and healthily OP x0 -

I'm sorry it's not possible. I'm sure your doctor doesn't expect you to lose 10lbs in 12 days & if they do expect you to then you need a new doctor. Worst case just delay your surgery. Good luck to you.0

Safe and quick weight loss is an oxymoron

not true! i had giardia and lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. Worst diet plan ever! I also ended up in the er.
*feel like I need to add this really did happen to me, but is a tongue and cheek response. Sometimes interwebz not get sarcasm.6 -

You need to talk to your doctor. If you need the weight off before the surgery then the surgery should be delayed.
Losing more than 2 lbs a week is not a healthy weight loss plan. I can't imagine your medical team wants you to do unsafe dieting just days before surgery.3 -

The OP said without exercise.
This means her sedentiary TDEE needs to be at least 3500cals a day. Which it isn't (I'm going to blindly assume OP is less than 500lbs).
So it is true.2 -
didn't try this but my trainer at the gym, who lost 65lbs said she ate fish & asparagus 6 times a day for a week to lose last pounds at the boot camp she was at5
