Good carbs and bad carbs

I have a hard time keeping my carb intake down because I usually either have rice, pasta, or potatoes with my dinner. I noticed potatoes are really high in calories and carbs, are the carbs in potatoes considered good carbs or bad carbs? And are they better than the carbs found in rice and pasta?

It depends. I think brown rice is better than white rice, and whole wheat pasta is better than white pasta.

Sometimes I hear sweet potatoes are "better" carbs than regular potatoes. Or at least that they have different vitamins/nutrients.

    Obviously I'm not an expert.

As far as potatoes go, it depends how they're cooked. And I don't know if they're better than rice and pasta. It tends to be said that the darker the foods, the better they are for you. So, if you maybe eat white rice, try a brown rice. Or if you have white pasta noodles, try wheat noodles.

potatoes are a complex carb. They are nutriant dense, and contain
lots of good stuff like potassium and vitamin C. They are also
very low in sodium. If you have potatoe baked with little or no
butter then it is very nutricious.

White rice is a simple carb, whole grain rice is a complex carb. try to
sub whole grain rice when you would normally use white rice.

any pasta made with white (all purpose) flour is simple carbs.
Try to use whole wheat pasta when ever possible.

Also, it's the potato skin that has the fiber. You should eat the skin.
