Signed up to this service after seeing it recommended on fitness videos and posts so still trying to get me bearings.
As the title says i am a self confessed yo-yo dieter and its time for it to end every year same story at some point my brain kicks into gear and i manage to dig some will power from under a deep dark rock and clean up my nutrition and start working out. This will go on for a few months with steadfast dedication and effort then all of a sudden cheat day turns into cheat may and the weight i lost finds me again. The new clothes that i looked and felt good in get cast away into a corner as i frantically search the drawers for a large top that fits as i inevitably admit defeat as i slip into an all too familiar XL outfit. The energy that i had a mere few weeks ago has faded away along with the dedication and commitment to a better self. I know its selfish i have a wife and two beautiful children who deserve the best of me as opposed to the self sympathetic mess of a man who cant be bothered to leave the solitude of his own homecand plays a constant game of the floor is lava with the bathroom scales.
So this time it needs to be different my third child is only twenty weeks away then our happy family will be complete and our eyes move to the future, i turn 30 in january an age i have spent the last year dreading i dont know why age has always been a number to me but this one seems to have hit home i should be standing tall happy with who i am and setting the best example i can for my kids not grazing in the kitchen when i am alone. Its not going to be easy and i have so much to learn but the time is definately now before its too late.
If youve read this far you have too much free time but thanks for reading i appreciate it.

so don't have cheat days... fit things you like to eat into your weekly cals, and that solves that issue.
other than that, you just need to decide to make losing weight and getting healthy a priority.

WHAT is going to be different? Thinking that it will (just like every time before), or approaching it differently?
If you think you'll just lose the weight and get it over with so you can live your life, stop. Losing weight is a slow, slow, process, and maintaining weight takes the rest of your life. Sounds dreadful, right? Not with the right mindset. The mix of dread and entusiasm people usually build up when they set out to lose weight, has to go. Healthy living is pretty mundane. It can actually feel a bit like a disappointment. But it also feels wonderful - not having to stick to strict regimens and relying on willpower to resist all the things you like to do and do the things you hate to do instead, will improve your quality of life. Build good habits. Good habits aren't those you read about in articles and magazines, they are your personal routines and tweaks that makes your real life and schedule run smoother. Not perfect, but flexible. You won't feel like a champion, but you won't feel like a failure either - you will just feel good.1 -
My approach is different this time in respect to the fact that i am trying to actually learn more about nutrition where in the past i have just relied on people saying "eat this, its good for you". I have never calorie counted in my life or had any idea as to what my macros are or where to find them in food so hoping MFP will give me the guiding hand i need.1
