You know, I've been doing SO well. Then one thing leads to another and for SOME reason, I come crashing down. Why oh why oh why, do I let my emotions get the best of me and cave to emotional eating. Grrrr. This angers me! I am mostly just p*ssed with myself because of the way I feel now. Someone please smack me...

Workout your stress away. Stress eating is a terrible cycle that only leads to feeling badly about yourself and more stress eating. Break the cycle right now.0

I found that setting a specific time to deal with my emotions (stress, sadness, whatever) has really helped me to stop eating my emotions. I set aside 10-15 mins (you choose) to stress out, then that is it. Even if I am done after 5 mins I still will stress for the full time. I don't allow myself to eat during this time. It has helped me to deal . . . maybe it will help you too. Good luck. You are doing a great job.0

Tomorrow is another day. I ate too much dinner today; it tasted great but then I felt nauseous. Next time, I'll remember that feeling and be less prone to do it again but it isn't the first time and it won't be the last.
No point in being angry about what you have done, just use it to change the future.0 -
Forgive yourself and remember that tomorrow is a new day to try again. Being angry at yourself just builds up inside and leads to yet more emotional eating later.
Do you have a friend you can call and talk to when you get stressed out and feel like eating? Or a hobby that you really enjoy? Distraction is a great tool in these situations. It also may be helpful to just sit and try to feel your way through why you are actually upset -- sometimes understanding the real reason for my upset is all it takes to keep me from ransacking the fridge.0 -

THIS!!
I have a bunch of rough stuff that I am dealing with in my life. In the past, I have been an emotional eater. About 50# of the weight that I need to lose is from self medicating my depression with my drug of choice--chocolate. In February I started working with a trainer, and in March I had some situations that would have sent me over the edge in the past. Instead of reaching for chocolate, I headed to the gym and ran like zombies were chasing me. When I still looked upset, my trainer taught me how to use the battle ropes. It felt awesome! My new manra is "take it to the gym instead of the kitchen"0 -
Thanks everyone. I tend to eat when I'm happy. I think I had restricted myself too much and in the end when my feelings came, I just went overboard. Thank goodness for today, a new day.0
