Iv been told my cholesterol is high for my age and there’s a lot of heart / cholesterol problems in the family so I’m keen to address this. I am told I need to increase my mono saturated and polyunsaturated fats to increase good cholesterol. Any suggestions bearing in mind I’m also trying to loose weight. MFP has recommended 1200 calories for a 2lb week weight loss for me but I’m alternating every other week between 1200 and 1500 so I don’t crash and binge

I don't think you're just supposed to increase unsaturated fats, I would assume the idea is to replace saturated fat sources with unsaturated ones. Losing weight will probably also help your cholesterol numbers.

Fat intake has nothing to do with weight gain, unless you're eating excessive calories. Eat at least the minimum recommended fat intake, but choose things like nuts, seeds, avo, olive/plant oils, oily fish etc over fat from things like dairy, meat/poultry, coconut products, lard etc.
