Low carb low fat diet ideas

I have been advised to eat low carb 40-50g and low fat 20-25g diet.
I'm trying to think which foods I can eat.
Other than chicken, fish and low fat cottage cheese what else can I add in?

turkey
seafood
egg whites
non fat greek yoghurt
berries & salad for low carb fruit and veg.

Egg whites! Of course, I was ruling eggs out due to the fat content.

Greek yoghurt and berries sound good as well.
My typical diet is around 150g carbs and around 60g fat so this will be quite a change but it is only for a few weeks I hope. (Waiting on a date for surgery)0 -

have a look at my evening meals if you want, the are mainly low carb on account of the husband these days!
the courgetti bolognese might work for you?1 -
That sounds terrible. How long are you supposed to eat like that? How many calories have you been adviced to take in? 50g carbs and 25g fat is 425 calories; eating 1000 calories means that you need to take in 143 grams protein daily, is that wise?1

Have you tried Pinterest? I pretty much live there for all my recipe ideas!
I can understand going low carb for liver, but moderate fat can be beneficial. I guess shifting the focus to protein, protein, protein, and reducing saturated fats/eating more mono/polyunsaturated fats is a good bet like olive oil, avocado, nuts and fatty fish.2 -

I have a mass over 11cm in size that is crushing my insides, had MRI this morning and they suggested this to shrink the liver in size by depleting the glycogen stores to try to lessen the pain I'm in.
Hoping surgery will be quick but I'm not back to the specialist until the 9th.0 -

I didn't know your hubby had went low carb. Staying off your feed atm. Seeing people run is depressing when I can't even walk upstairs without looking like a weeble wobble0 -

Ten days before my surgery I was put on a VLCD diet (supervised of course) which consisted of so many meal replacement drinks and one cup of skim milk daily. The goal was to shrink my liver. It was miserable but it worked.
I could fill up on as many sugar free jell-o and clear broth as I wanted but I was so apathetic I barely bothered.

I get the feeling I'm not going to love eating this way but if it works and can lessen the pain a bit it will be worth it.

Starting it tomorrow, just went shopping for Fage 0% fat yoghurt, eggs, tuna and chicken.
Got it at 50g carbs, 24g fat and 913 kcal1 -
Can you get a referral to an RD? My brother was able to get one when his doctor recommended a big diet change for medical reasons, it helped him a lot with planning meals.1

Yes, but one cup of avocado is going to contain an entire day's worth of fat for OP's plan. At that point, it doesn't make sense as a cheese substitute unless OP genuinely prefers it to cheese.2 -

I don't think I'd get a referral in time. They gave me a diet sheet but it was all just low fat protein drinks and drink skimmed milk, no food.
I can't stand that so asked what the macros would be and just making my own food plan that will at least be slightly more bearable.
I was thinking maybe normal tofu would be good? I'm not sure of the fat content until I go to health food shop tomorrow as I normally buy the marinated high fat version which is 11%.0 -
Tofu has about 6 grams of fat per half cup -- I do have some memory of seeing low fat tofu at some point, but I'm not sure how widely available it is.1

Check out SkinnyTaste for recipe ideas, she has a lot that would fall into the low fat/carb realm.
My first thought would be lots of seafood and leafy veggies. You could experiment with Asian flavours to keep it interesting. A lot of Japanese recipes will be low-carb if you cut out the rice and noodles!1 -
Here's something I call a "sushi bowl" (I'll just remove the avocado since it won't work for you):
- Dice 1 cucumber and marinate in rice vinegar and a bit of salt while preparing other ingredients
- Cook some deveined/de-tailed shrimp and dice, let cool
- Cut some nori sheets into small slices
- Toss all in a bowl with a bit of sesame oil, sesame seeds, soy sauce and spicy mayo
And one of my favourite salads, similar to above:
- Slice 1 cucumber into thin slices
- Shred a few carrots
- Slice a few jalapenos
- Chop a few stalks of green onion
- Toss all ingredients with thai chili sauce, a splash of vinegar, sweetener (if desired) and sesame oil1 -

Bummer! If you nix the mayo/sesame oil/sesame seeds from the top recipe, it might work for you.
100g cucumber - 3.6g carbs / 0g fat
100g shrimp - 0.2g carbs / 0.3g fat
10g nori - 0.5g carbs / 0g fat
1 tbsp vinegar - 0g carbs / 0g fat
1 tbsp soy sauce - 0.8g carbs / 0g fat
Other low-carb veggie options would be: bell peppers, spinach, kale, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower.
Stevia/erythritol as sweeteners would be good low-GI options.

You could maybe use kelp noodles as a base instead of the cucumber (although I didn't think the cucumber would put you over your goals either) -- kelp noodles have 1 gram of carbohydrate per serving. I like them in cold salads or Asian-style dishes.1 -
Fish (I find tuna pouches are convenient), skinless/boneless chicken breast, eggs (eggs whites are even lower fat than whole egg), shrimp, and green veggies.1

That could work only using 100g of cucumber. It could make a nice side with tuna or tofu etc.

A liver-shrinking diet is often recommended before bariatric surgery. If you google "liver reduction diet," you'll find lots of info. Look for medically reliable sources, for example:
