Calorie deficit for weight loss.
Fibrous vegetables and salad are filling0 -
To lose weight you just need a deficit, but to limit the amount of muscle loss and for health you should aim for minimum amounts of protein and fat. for protein aim for a minimum of 0.8-1 grams per lb of lean body mass, if you don't know you lbm, then aim for 0.8 grams per lb of goal weight. and for fat aim for 0.45 grams per lb of goal weight.
protein to maintain lean mass, fat for healthy hair, skin, nails, digestive tract, vitamin absorption, etc.0 -

adequate fat and protein are good for satiety too.0 -
In terms of diet, protein is important to help maintain muscle while you lose weight, otherwise you'll lose both fat AND muscle. It's also a good filling type of food, so I try and get it into my breakfast and lunch as much as possible.
In the mornings I'll get my protein from a protein-dense yogurt or cottage cheese, with some fruit alongside for good measure. Then at lunch I'll opt for chicken or fish with some veg; I don't find salad fills me up very much, but root veg like carrots, or greens like broccoli and asparagus help stave off hunger.
I started my journey about 3 months ago, and eating like this I don't tend to feel super hungry by dinner time anymore - in terms of fitness alongside, I work out with a PT twice a week and I've recently added a 5k run once a week. Also, make sure you're getting about 2L of water every day - that's really helped me feel less hungry too!0 -
What people find filling varies from person to person. For me it's fiber first and then protein. But I never feel satisfied, even though I may feel full, without a certain amount of fat.2
