New here... here's my story!

Hey, my name is Alyssa!
Age: 23
Height: 5’3”
Weight: 155 Ibs.
Weight Goal: 125-130 lbs.

This is my first week on MFP it’s been a lot of help so far, but I think I need to start making more motivated and encouraging friends that can help me with my path to get healthier. So here is my story when I was 19 just after I had my daughter I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes I weighed about the same I do now when I found out. It was a big challenge to adapt to all the new changes I had to learn how to take 5 shots a day, count carbs, and completely change my lifestyle, but I did it. This was in the end of 2013 and all of 2014 I started working out 5 days a week and counted every carb I ate and finally reached my weight loss goal of 120 lbs., but I was a stay at home mom, so it was easy. The following year I was hired at my current job as a shipping/ inventory specialist which means I sit on my butt at a desk for 10 hours a day 5 days a week. When I started I promised myself id take care of my health and never stop working out or counting carbs, two and a half years later I’m 44 pounds heavier.

All my good habits suddenly started turning into bad habits. I work 8-6 every day and it’s a 30-minute drive back to town and another 15 minutes to pick up my daughter. So, I get home every night around 7-7:30 which makes it very hard to find time to work out especially when you still have dinner, laundry, dishes, and getting my daughter ready for bed every night so I stopped exercising during the week I’ve always tried squeezing 2 workouts in on the weekend and I completely gave up on watching what I was eating. So that’s why I’m here I really need to get back on track because watching the numbers climb up on the scale is not fun! And it feels so good to be healthy!

I made the decision September 25th to start getting my life back on track and here is where I’m at so far. I’ve cut out all the diet soda I drank for water and I threw out all my unhealthy snacks like cheese its, granola bars, and chips and swapped them out for healthy snacks like fruit, cheese sticks, celery/peanut butter, and yogurt that way If I get hungry all I have is something healthy. I made a rule for when I go grocery shopping I can’t get more than 10 items from the middle aisles in the grocery store, so I’m mostly limited to the produce, meat, and dairy which has really helped cut out all the processed foods I was eating before. I’ve still been exercising at least 2-3 times a week I just use at home workouts like P90X, Insanity, and Slim in 6 but it’s still hard to squeeze in extra workouts throughout the week with my work schedule I’m just exhausted when I get off. So far, I’ve lost 9 lbs. and I want to lose at least 25 more I’m open for any tips, advise, and friendships to help me through this journey I hope it’s one I can stick with forever because being healthy changes everything for the best!
