MeechyLA's Fitness Journey

Hey everyone! Long story short, I had a life event in May that was the kick in the butt I needed to finally take fitness seriously. Over the past 5 months I've successfully lost 40lbs and I'm not done yet! It's been a wild ride, the keys for me thus far have been:
  • REALLY understanding my "why" and using that as my foundation to achieve my goals
  • Finding an activity that I love and committing to it 100%, for me that was a boxing class at a local gym. Through that class, I've developed a fitness level that allows me to actually enjoy other activities I used to hate, like running!
  • Starting with small goals and going at my own pace to achieve them.

I'm still about 30% body fat and hope to drop that to 20%, my primary exercise of choice to get there right now is running. I successfully completed my first 10K a couple weeks ago under an hour and plan to race at least one 10K a month. My medium-term goal is to run my first half-marathon with strength and confidence by spring.

If anyone is looking to add friends on MFP for encouragement and accountability, please let me know! I also hope to meet other folks local to LA that are committed to fitness and looking to try new activities as a group. Maybe try for the LA Marathon in 2019?
