I am supremely frustrated.

I swear, my body could not be trying to lose the last 4 kilos any slower...it's ridiculous. Either that or I'm far too impatient.

I desperately need some advice, or encouragement, or something, because I feel so discouraged and down about the whole situation. Around 10 weeks ago, I decided 'yes, I do want to lose the last 5 kilos before my trip away, and 10 weeks is plenty of time to do it in!'....wrong, apparently. I now have 5 weeks left and I have 4 kilos to go.

To start with, I began lifting weights very regularly, and 'gained' a kilo in water weight that took some weeks to buzz off. Since then, I've upped my exercise even more and watched my calories even closer. I eat 1500 a day, some days quite a bit under, and then some days a little over, depending on the exercise. I never, ever exceed my calorie limit over a total week. Ever.

Exercise wise, I do 3 BodyPump classes a week, sometimes 4, and 5 sessions of 30-45 minute cardio a week (either cross trainer or RPM/cycling). I can certainly see a massive different in my overall appearance, and (despite my complaining) I have lots numerous inches.

Stats wise...I weigh 64 kilos (141 pounds), am 157cm (5'2), and have around 27% body fat. Waist 27 inches, hips 40, and bust 38.

I want to get there by my trip in 5 weeks, and who knows what I'm doing wrong or what's going on, but I need some help. Any comments would be hugely appreciated.

Most likely it's just impatience. When you only have a small amount to lose you should only be aiming to lose around 1/2 lb per week (or 1/4 kg).

If you're losing inches and looking and feeling better then it shouldn't matter what the scale says.

If you're eating in deficit then you'll get there, just keep at it.

it looks like you are doing everything RIGHT. "losing weight" and "reaching your goal" is not something that is measured by the scale only. If you are losing inches, then you are losing.

    Hi,

Do you need to lose the last 4kg? Would be the first question? Muscle weighs more than fat so you could be struggling due to the muscle mass you might have built? The fact that you've lost inches, and body shape has changed would support this. It might be helpful to chat to your family Doctor about your weight, BMI, and what a "healthy" weight would be for you?

If you do need to lose the extra 4kg, I would look at sticking to the calorie count that MFP gives you, and maybe increasing the time doing light aerobic exercise (walking, relaxed cycling), and less doing intensive exercise.

    All the best

    Phil
