The need of information once was the problem, now the problem is the opposite. There is a ton of information only confusing people. What are your your thoughts? My goal is to be lean with muscle.

For what it's worth, my experience is that clinical information and stuff of that caliber is best for all these things. I did some work with a university kinesiology department one time that did wonders for me figuring out my metabolism and dietary needs.1

What would you call those analytics?0

Lift heavy stuff, bulk/cut as necessary.1 -

Seconded. Your current bf% will determine which way to go initially...2 -

The real problem is weeding through all the misinformation floating around that people push. As stated above, solid information can often be easily backed up with studies supporting the statements. There are plenty of great thread here that help weed it out, and well informed posters. Find the sections and clarify your goals a bit more and I'm sure you can find plenty of evidence based information that people will lead you to. Lean with muscle isn't the same for everyone.... but the more you narrow it down the better.
Since it sounds like you may be in for some cut and bulk cycles or recomp...
Cutting is all about calorie deficit above all else, and adequate lifting/training to preserve as much muscle as possible for that deficit.
Bulking... more variables, but a great thread on lifting routines here. community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you/p1
A great one on Recompisition - community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat/p1
If your idea of "lean with muscle" is more the biker/runner/cardio based build, there are plenty of people here killing it in all forms of cardio as well.
But in a nutshell, don't buy into anything that will tell you it's all easy. Weight loss, weight gain, strength gains, specific goal gains (faster run, etc) all take some time and dedication. Depending on your end goals many of those aren't really hard... they just take time. But chances are if any certain diet/program/trainer/whatever tries to tell you that you can be some ripped all around jock with little effort... walk away or as for real proof.1 -
Thanks for the info. Cheers.0

My thoughts are that none of this is particularly complicated...IMO, diet and eating is actually pretty common sense...lots of whole foods and minimally processed foods...lots of veg, some fruit, lean protein sources, whole grains, healthy fats...and some pizza now and then.
There is a lot of fitness "woo" out there that in some cases is total woo...but in many cases, it's not really woo so much as it's not really applicable to your average Joe/Jane trying to get fit and live a healthy life...a lot of stuff that gets pedaled out there (HIIT for example) is really designed for higher end athletes who are already pretty much at peak and trying to get that extra little edge...but it gets pedaled to the masses as the newest must do to be healthy and fit.
My stance on pretty much all things diet and exercise is that if it starts to defy logic and common sense then it's probably just a bunch of woo and/or simply not applicable to my current endeavors.1 -

So eat at a small deficit, keep protein higher (0.8g per lb body weight is a common recommendation) and follow a progressive lifting program until you're leaner. You may like how you look and just want to maintain it, if not, work on adjusting your physique through more bulk/cut cycles.2 -

Ive been training for a fee years consistently as my squat weight has increased I've also noticed some aches and pains around the knees. My form is really good and I stay away from static stretching. What would you say is the best way to deal with something like that, Rest? Lower weight? Supplements?
