When ready to give up...

I'm in a 'pity party' mood today. My weight keeps rising and my exercise is now nearly non-existent. What is it about this time of year (Halloween) that sends control out the window? Rather than whine about it, what can I do to get back on track?

I have some difficulties this time of year because when the time changes I'll pretty much be relegated to my indoor bike trainer during the week and it's not my favorite thing in the world. I just go with the old Nike cliche..."just do it."
I feel better when I'm exercising on the regular, even if what I'm doing isn't exactly my favorite thing to do...I also know that it's temporary and I still can enjoy afternoon rides on the weekends if it's nice out. I also typically spend more time in the weight room this time of year because it's nice and heated.
I don't really have issues controlling my eating...more that my overall activity dips, exercise and non-exercise alike. I do usually put on 5-10 Lb over winter, but it comes right off in the Spring when I start setting my sites on various cycling events and start getting back into my regular training groove. Basically winter I do more work in the weight room and just try to maintain a reasonable cardio base so I can jump back in come Spring.0 -
Try to commit a 1/2 hr a day to start & build from there. I started with an hour.....walk away from the house for 30min & turn around. Just do that until you find something else to do. The guilt of not doing something is worse than just doing it.0
