Just curious, is there any specific reason for keeping an eye on the carbs? Like diet or health?

What's wrong with 50% carbs? Did you eat food you enjoyed that made you feel good (physically and mentally)? Did your meals satisfy and satiate you?

Weight loss is about calories... Many people feel great eating that many carbs

Veggies have carbs, but not as much as bread, donuts, etc. A lot of veggies have fiber.

Don't worry about macros yet. Just focus on enjoying the food you do eat within your calorie limit. If you find yourself obsessing about food and eating while getting 50% of your calories from carbs, then you should consider your macros. You may find that you experience greater satiety on higher fat and protein macros.

My carbs are usually in the 50-60% range. As long as it's not causing you to undereat protein it shouldn't be a problem. If it is a problem (if you're short and sedentary needing to eat 1200 calories), then increasing protein sources should automatically decrease carbs if you're staying within your calories. Focus on things like meat, eggs, and dairy if you need more protein.
