Hi everyone. I’m Lauren! Im hoping this time trying to lose weight will be successful. I was very active in high school but lost motivation over the years. I’m now out of high school 6 years and have gained around 65 pounds. It’s so discouraging and I feel so upset with myself. But I think tomorrow is the day! I really want to start making better choices.
I’ve been too embarrassed to start working out again in front of people because of how out of shape I’ve gotten but I loved Zumba class so much when I was younger and there’s the person I used to always go to having a class tomorrow! I’m hoping if I start talking to more people who are in similar positions I’ll start to feel more motivated.
One major issue I’m having is 5 years ago I started having really bad fruit allergies and to some nuts. I can’t eat most fruits without getting sick, breaking out in hives, etc.. I used to eat it all the time for a healthy snack so now I’m not even sure what to eat!! If anyone has any suggestions for meals/snacks that would be amazing.
My goals are that Im hoping to lose at least 10 pounds by the end of the year, 30 pounds by summer, and be down 70 pounds and back into normal, healthy range by my wedding in September 2019.
I look forward to talking with you :)

Have fun at Zumba - doing exercise you enjoy will make all the difference to maintaining a workout regime.

In regards to food, you just need to stick to the calorie goal mfp gives you (plus the calories you earn from Zumba). There is no set foods, or restrictions on what to eat, with the exception of foods that cause you health issues.

The number of meals, timing of meals, and size of meals is personal preference - you can eat in a way that suits your lifestyle. I used to eat many smaller meals a day, but discovered I was constantly hungry doing this. It was also a pain to prepare that many meals, and find the time to eat them. I've since changed to less, but bigger meals (anywhere from 1 to 4 is normal) and I normally eat them late in the day. I don't snack, because the bigger meals make me feel satisfied and satiated.

Experiment with number of meals and the macro breakdown of foods, as well as meal timing to find out what works for you. I find protein helps me feel full longer, as does fibre. I start meal planning with a protein source, and then add fibrous carbs (generally lots of vegies) and healthy fats.
