New to this. I am in my mid fifties. I am a cancer survivor. My weight has been a struggle for years, started after a car accident. I have tried for years with little success. My physician put me in a weight lose study for a weight loss drug years ago. My body made antibodies to the medicine and didn’t work for me. I fell in the 30% of people it didn’t work for because I made antibodies to the protein in the medicine. My physician feels that I need to accept that this is just my body type. I felt like he gave up on me. I have tried Weight Watchers, private dietitian, trainer, and numerous diets with barely a dent in my weight. After my cancer treatment I lost 50 pounds. I was determined to keep it off. I have been very careful about most everything I eat for the last year. But for the last year my weight went up despite keeping my calories around 1,000. I have been working with a dietician this past year and no real results. She told me this is just where my body wants to be. I felt she gave up on me too. For a month I have been seeing a nutritionist at the local hospital. She is giving me hope. She asked me to log on MFP. One month in and I have lost 3.5 pounds. The first drop in a year. I am keeping hope that I can break the weight issue. I am so blessed to have survived the cancer and now I am ready to live more fully. I have tried for years to be a healthy weight without much to show for all the effort. I haven’t lost hope.
