I am preset at Carb 50%, Fat 30% and Protein 20%. These are not changeable unless I upgrade and pay, which I might do.

Is this an all around good rule to follow 50, 30, 20, or should I pay the piper and be able to change these numbers and my micros? I am assuming Micros that MFP gives me are fine too.

I am 55, male, 5'10", 200 and wanted to get to 185, generally active, do weights 3x a week (general all purpose workout for an hour) and 1 hour walking 5 days a week. My job keeps me on my feet a lot during the day too.

Thank you.

there is nothing wrong with that macros split - ditto with the micros

make sure you have your activity level set correctly nd that your goal isn't overly agressive (i.e. with onyl 15lbs to lose, selecting .5-1lb a week is appropriate)

You can change your macros without upgrading to premium (you just can't change it for each meal) you can do this in goals. It's a personal preference really as long as you are getting the minimum intake for protein and fat that you require.
