Re-starting- need motivation/tips

Hey there so this time last year I had lost some weight but fell off the band wagen with the situation I was in at the time. Now I’m in a better place and am trying to muster up the motivation because I NEED to lose weight. I have gained so much in the last few years and I am just so disgusted in myself. Any tips for someone who seeks food as comfort? Any tips for someone who eats out of boredom or just HAS to satisfy her craving!??

I would recommend a keto (low carb) diet. I've tried many diets and the keto diet is the only one I've stuck to (3 months). It has taken away almost all cravings and hunger, so if you tend to be an emotional eater then it might be a good one to try.
If you don't want to try keto then figure out how many calories you should be eating to lose weight and start logging every single thing you eat. See how many calories you're eating can be motivating and will show you what you need to change.0 -
If you eat for comfort and out of boredom, find other things to do instead. Take a walk in nature or a hot bath or sip herbal tea when you need comfort. Better yet, fix whatever in your life is making you unhappy to begin with.
As far as your diet, keto isn't necessary, it's just one way of staying in a caloric deficit. Start by logging everything, and figure out what foods help you meet your goals.1 -

A lot of anti-keto folks in here. Don't listen to em, try it for yourself. If it's not for you, you can try the same old same old. Food cravings go away on keto.
You can lose weight eating carrots and celery or sausage and cheese. The sausage and cheese without the carbs satisfies and if you have a problem overeating, a lot of carbs will only make it much harder to stick to your caloric deficit which is necessary regardless of what path you take.
Everyone is an "expert" from reading this that and the other thing. Experience beats a thousand conflicting ideas on a site where everyone has their own way.
I've dropped from 394 to 375.5 since October 16th or 18th... something like that. The less you weigh the slower your weight loss will be because the the gap between what you need to eat to maintain your current weight and what you will actually eat will be smaller which means a smaller caloric deficit. Like right now with my current activity level and weight, I need to eat about 4570 calories to maintain, but I eat about 1500 which is lower than my 1900 calorie goal. A pound of fat has 3500 calories and a pound is about what I'm losing each day. Just reworked my macros so that I get about 166 g protein, 127 g fat and 24 g carbs and I drink between 100 and 200 oz of water a day.
Most people will tell you legitimate ways to lose weight, but keto is about the only thing that will make it easier for someone who likes food a little too much. If you don't have to fight cravings all of the time it will be much easier than if you are there thinking about sneaking off to the kitchen.
You owe it to yourself to find something you can stick to because you deserve to be healthy and happy. Don't let anyone turn you away from something that might be just what you need because their pride forces them to shoot down something that works but it's not their way.
Best of luck to you, regardless of what road you choose to take.
Now for everyone else... Let the woos and arguing commence. Results (keto) wreck words all day every day. I'll be sure to check in on all the silliness that follows later on... oh wait, no I won't. lol5 -
