I plopped a large carton of regular plain nonfat yogurt into a large sieve lined with coffee filters....placed sieve over a large bowl and let it drain overnight. There I had greek yogurt in the morning. Imagine you could use other fat versions of yogurt. There was alot of fluid sieved off that yogurt.
Love plain greek yogurt with no sugar added canned cherries and splenda.

I used to do this until I fell in love with Trader Joe's full fat Greek yogurt. The trick is to make sure you get a plain yogurt (only milk and cultures). A lot of yogurts have been artificially made creamy with thickeners, emulsifiers and stabilizers. These yogurts won't drain. It's often the cheap, store brands that are unadulterated and separate easily enough to drain.

Avoid ingredients like food starch, pectin, gelatin, tapioca starch, agar, etc. This is more of a problem in the US than in Europe.

I just make my own homemade greek yogurt. Use 2% milk. I strain it to get it nice in thick. I eat it with fresh fruit. If im craving a little sweetness i add a tsp of my homemade jam. Low calorie, lots of protein. Can use it instead of sour cream too..add fresh herbs and lemon juice.
Cost is very low. Just a little time. So worth it...never buy anymore.

    How do you make it?

I've made normal yogurt using the flask method but never Greek. I'd love to give it a try.
