What are some of the best high intensity exercises to do at home for a quick 10-15 minute nightly routine? My internist recommended this for a change rather than walking twice a day but rather doing my walking or elliptical in am and add the HIIT at night to change things up and retrain my body...kick start my metabolism since I am on a plateau ugh

    In my opinion...

You should add high intensity work in ADDITION to the steady state cardio, not sub one for the other.

The best things? Probably stuff you are familiar with... instead of walking for an hour, do 10 minutes of sprints with very, very short rest periods in between. You have an elliptical? Do sprints on the elliptical. Really the best things are traditional cardio exercises - running, rowing, biking - done as hard as you can

HIIT should get your heart rate UP, how late at night are you supposed to be doing this? I’m jacked after high intensity exercise - no way I could sleep.

Check out Fitness Blender on YouTube. They've got some great workouts. I did a 10 minute abs workout last night. They've got good HIIT Pilates workouts too. You won't be disappointed.

YouTube has tons, just watch a bunch and find one that looks like you want to try it.
