    A close friend of mine experienced something very similar. It turned out she had been ignoring her bodies cues for several months (had been pooping up to 20x a day, which is NOT normal.) By the time they discovered she had Crohn's Disease, she had lost most of her lower intestine.

    eta: Your friend needs to see a doctor to rule out the cause of it.
    eta2: Because I suck at spelling apparently.

    Let's see:

    What's her diet like?
    Does she have any allergies?
    Is she eating enough real food?
    Is she juicing?
    What's her exercise like?
    What's her medical history?
    Does she have a family history of cancer or hereditary diseases?

    And, I'm sure there are like 30 other questions that need to be answered before anyone can give any real advice.

    In other words...have her see a doctor.
