body image and weight loss

this might seem like a really weird question- but does anyone have problems 'seeing' the weight loss they have achieved? I've lost 40 pounds out of a 60 pound goal, and I feel like the way I see myself hasn't really changed. the other day I was looking through some old photos and I posted a before and after thing on the success stories page, and when I look at pictures of myself side by side Iike that I can really see the difference, but on a day to day basis when I look in the mirror I see the same person. I was hoping my self confidence would improve by losing weight, but I feel like all it's done is make me paranoid :/
When I was bigger I think I had an image of myself as smaller than I really was, so when I'd see photos or videos of myself I was really taken aback. Now that I'm not as big I keep worrying that I'm underestimating my own size like I was before so I'm constantly getting people to take pictures of me, trying on old clothes just to 'make sure' they're too big etc etc. Sometimes I end up buying clothes that are too big for me because I have trouble believing that I'm now the size I actually am.
Does this all sound completely crazy or does anyone else relate to this??

I found that things just hit me all of a sudden. All a sudden I noticed my thinnger arms, my thinner more toned legs. On a day to day basis no, but then I would glimpse a part of me in a mirror and all of a sudden there was the 'new' me part.

You won't magically gain confidence and get the dream job and boy/girl just from losing weight. Weight related ailments will disappear, you will be able to wear smaller clothes and fit into smaller spaces, maybe run faster and walk longer, but you may have to deal with more attention, emotions you have suppressed with food may be more prominent, you'll compare yourself to another segment of the population than before, you may realize that at a normal weight, you still have padded areas. We get used to what we see and feel every day, that becomes normal. You are the same person, not crazy.
