Ex-WW, new focus on fitness

Saying hi from Ottawa, Canada!
So I’m 30 years old and still battling it out. After some success on WW and a massive weight gain to get me practically back where I started, I decided to switch gears and focus more on fitness and overall health. I’m fortunate enough to work for an organization that has a gym and fitness advisor on site. I’ve recently started a group weight circuit program twice a week and I play rec volleyball once a week. I just started a meal plan through the fitness advisor which has me aiming for about 1750 calories per day.
It’s a huge shift for me as the plan is somewhat restrictive. Ie. 2 oz of chicken and half a cup each black beans, brown rice and broccoli. I’m used to making healthy curries and chilis and vegetable dishes... I love cooking so I know this plan won’t be long term for me, but I owe it to myself to recalibrate and remind myself how to portion control and meal plan. In the long term, I’d like to have lost 47lbs, but in the short term I want to gain strength and energy and hopefully start losing 1-1.5 lbs per week.
My fatal flaw is that I give myself too much slack. I know what’s healthy, and I know what not to eat. But I love food and I love to cook and I cave way too often than I should. I need to give myself the chance to prove to myself that I CAN do this.
