So I'm pretty sure my scale is dying on me, serves me right for buying cheap, does anyone have any suggestions for an accurate food scale that will last me a while? My budget is $60 so I can go as high as that but no more.

The few I've gotten on Amazon are like 12 bucks. Ozeri brand I believe.

can you change the battery in it?1

Tried that. The accuracy is on the fritz, sometimes it won't switch measurements, and other times it won't tare unless I turn it on and off. It's a crappy scale but I didn't have much to work with at the time so it was all I could afford.0

I bought one from Fred Meyer and it has served me well. I cannot remember how much it cost me cause I have had it so long. IF your goal is losing weight and eating better why limit yourself. Is this something your going to do form now on then invest in a good scale. Mine is an Aquatronic Salter0

Mine has been. I occasionally double check it with various packaged items, even though Ive heard rumors (on mfp that I havent personally looked into) that weights on packaged foods arent totally accurate either.0 -

I'm definitely gonna always have a scale in my repertoire because I'm really bad at measuring. My budget is just what I can afford for right now, if I have more money to play with in the future I'll definitely buy a better one. But I need one now because the one I have is on the fritz.0 -

I only bought another one because the "foot" (rubber peg) at the bottom fell off and vanished. So it was unbalanced. But yea, they both work well.0 -
I bought mine at a big box store (Canadian Tire for those Canadians here) and it is a starfrit. It was a "special" 60$ marked down to 19.99 and it came with a bowl.
Takes a 9 volt battery...I have had it since 2013...changed the battery 3 or 4x maybe...only thing is it can't be near the microwave when it's on...1 -
There are a gazillion of them on Amazon for well under $20. No reason to spend $60. I go by style. What we prefer is a thin, flat, rectangular one that's metal. It's easy to put oversize things on it and to use it as a postal scale, too. We avoid ones with glass tops because we're clumsy. Even the cheap ones last for many-several years and seem pretty accurate.0

I have this one. It works terrific and comes in purple! It runs on the flat batteries, which is a bit of pain, because I have to go buy them specifically when the scale dies.

I have had two Oxo scales. I got a 10lb capacity one for home since I weigh larger recipes and keep the smaller one in my desk at work in case I have to quick-grab an apple or something and need to weigh it at work. Both were under $30.1

The $60 is just my budget, it doesn't have to be expensive so long as it lasts. I tried buying cheap prior and that's the one that's messing up on me lol
I'm hoping I just picked the wrong brand and really just need suggestions for others that have stood the test of time.0 -
Thank you for all the suggestions! You guys are awesome!1

I just ordered a scale and food scale from Amazon for $40. I haven't tried either yet but hopefully they'll work.0

I have the EatSmart scale. I think it's this one, but in silver: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001N0D7GA/ref=abs_brd_tag_dp?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER0

I've been using the Ozeri scale since I bought it in 2014 almost every day with no issues. It's a great little workhorse.2

I have had this one 3 years, less than 20 bucks.
