So I started an exercise dvd. It has country music and I love exercising to that. The problem is, I'm such a klutz, I trip over my own feet!!! I get so aggravated and want to quit but I feel good knowing I'm trying. Does it ever get easier or should I stick to something easy, like walking. Thanks

    What's the debate?

Practice and increased conditioning and coordination would make the routine easier over time. Seems pretty basic.

Just like everything else in life, it will get easier the more you do it.

Assuming your goal is weight loss do whatever you want to do in order to increase your activity level or decrease your caloric intake. Its totally subjective and up to you what those activities are and no one on a forum is going to be able to tell you what it is you like or dislike.

    Yes, most likely.....

OP - I'm terribly uncoordinated. I'm so bad that I now look for cardio outside of choreography. You can still run, jog, walk, jump (mini-trampoline) to music you love. Keep trying your DVD, if it doesn't get easier continue to look elsewhere.

You might look up "walking style" workouts, those are with little or no choreography. Leslie Sansone is the more simple than Jessica Smith. With Leslie videos you can use an MP3 player and your favorite upbeat music. Look for 140-ish beats per minute (try Jog.FM for songs that fit).

It's hard to guess how uncoordinated someone else is compared to ones own uncoordination, but I did find taking aquafit, belly dance, and Zumba classes did improve my coordination and balance over time.

I don't think trying to do a choreographed/dance type routine at home would have worked well for me. I found keeping an eye on the people surrounding me helped with movement cues better than a DVD.
I also would have given up doing it at home because I was outside my comfort zone.

Try to do a few more sessions, ifvit really is not your thing, look at doing some of the home walking workouts, some have no choreography, some have a little ie: side stepping, walking vines, and arm movements.

It does get easier for most people.

    Cheers, h.

It definitely gets easier. You'll learn the routine. You might want to just watch the DVD first, then on the second go round start moving. Good job!

IMO, things that start out easy get boring fast. Things that start out more challenging build skills and stay interesting longer.

You don't have to be good at something in order for it to be fun, and it's burning calories either way. ;)

But if it is just plain not fun, definitely try something else. Best wishes!
