I'm an emotional eater, and going through perimenopause, fun combo. I have done all the mental tricks to distract, evaluate and make different choices, none too successful. I just got some lavender oil to treat a scar on my arm. Lavender also has a calming effect and omg it DID chill me right out! I was craving alcohol and sweets last two nights and it calmed my jitters and I got perspective, went to bed early. A victory!

Plant a garden full of lavender plants and regularly roll in them in a white eyelet gown, inhaling their medicinal properties allowing the petals to collect haphazardly in your tousled hair. Before the first frost of the season, leap into action and pluck those lavender flowers, dry them and hang them in the eves of your home. Lie underneath them, basking in their concentrated soothing fragrance, secure in the knowing that you'll never eat another piece of cake again. Unless it's under appropriate conditions like a birthday party where you'll only have a sliver because there's no lavender within a 5 mile radius.

    Just kidding.

But really, if that's all it takes to console you, I don't think you're a serious foodie.

I can't stand lavender, personally, but if it works for you OP, go for it!

Lavender, including topically applied, can mimic estrogen. If hormones are part of your problem, you are slightly supplementing, and potentially partially compensating.
