The next person who says that muscle weighs more than fat

Booyah! When comparing the weights of two substances, you usually weigh equal volumes of each substance, and since muscle is more dense than fat, when comparing equal volumes, muscle weighs more than fat...

But volume is different. And she spoke of volume.A pound is a pound unless you're defying the laws of physics.

We all do have some fat in our muscles...intramyocellular lipid...and also some degree of actual fat marbled into the spaces between the muscle fibers (much, much more in people who are obese). But I don't know if that's really what this thread was about.0 -

Yeah. Even when you take into account that extra fat that some have in muscles, it still weighs more than an equal volume of fat.
I'm done here.0 -
I do not weigh the same as an elephant! It just looks like I do.Everything weighs the same. :flowerforyou:

The unstated assumption is "everything else being equal". People say steel is heavier than wood because they assume equal volumes.0

But it's okay. You also weigh the same as an ant.0 -
Well done OP. You've set us all straight...again

Would this be chocolate pudding? If it's chocolate pudding then I'm in, but I don't really care for tapioca.

Promise! I will see your "carrots have *fewer* calories" and raise you "per unit *volume*", or "per unit *weight*"!:glasses:Only if you promise to never say carrots have less calories than potato chips. You must only say "given equal volume carrots have less calories than potato chips".
If you are referring more towards the everytime someone is losing weight somebody jumps in and says "you're probably just gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat". Then I agree.0 -
Kinda like how a fun day goes by faster than a boring day. That's right, the time-space continuum shifts depending on my level of amusement. Cause that's how science works right?0

We have to use this picture for comparison...I think it's in the by-laws somewhere.

Where the hell is my pudding?!?!?!0

Only as you accelerate until the magnitude of your velocity approaches that of light. Also, now I would like a cup of chocolate pudding and a cup of whipped cream, please. :drinker:Kinda like how a fun day goes by faster than a boring day. This thread was useless without pics. :bigsmile:We have to use this picture for comparison...I think it's in the by-laws somewhere.
