Black Beans!

I swear I could eat them everyday. They are delicious and keep me full for awhile. Looking back in life I wish I knew how great they were.

if you really want to add a little something to them add a cup of cooked brown rice, can of diced tomatoes, some onions, green peppers and garlic and you've got a power house whole grain high protein meal that rests in your stomach like a rock. Its a staple in my house.

We have crunchy black bean tacos with an avocado dressing at least once a week.

    My kids even love it.

    I do!

Came from Pinterest, where I have not had much luck with recipes, but these two were phenomenal:

Do you all cook your black beans from scratch, or do you use canned? If you use canned, can you recommend a brand? Thanks!

Black beans are amazing. I can eat them right out of the can (or Tupperware, if I had to cook them myself)!

Add some steamed yams, salsa, cooked corn (scraped fresh from the cob if you've got it) and cheese for a one-dish meal that can't be beat.

I haven't had this in a while, actually. I know what lunch will be tomorrow!

I was using canned. If you have a Wegman's available to shop in, their canned black beans are very tasty.

I like to use the rotel tomatoes - spicy! I also use Bulgar rather than brown rice, but the taste is very similar.

Canned are crap taste-wise, compared to home-cooked. Put them in a slow cooker with plenty of water and a bit of salt, and you're good to go. Freeze the extra.

My wife is from Cuba. Black beans and white rice are a staple around my house. I know her recipe, but I suck at it. I think she's conveniently forgotten to tell me something crucial.

Black bean, white rice, and fried steak. Dinner of champions.

Never tried to cook them from scratch!!!! The canned ones are good additions to some recipes. I may try some of you guy's suggestions as well because they sounded so good!!!! Good thing my son likes beans too!!!! :)

Love them! I warm them up in a pot, add some cajun and pepper and put them over rice. Great lunch to eat!

I use Eden Organic no salt added brand. Only 15 mg of sodium per 1/2 cup and 110 cals. You can add any kind of shredded cheese or grated parmesan/romano cheese for a more savory flavor without adding too much salt.

A nice a different breakfast is: one of two eggs "fried" on PAM on top 1/2 of black beans, drained if canned, mixed with 1/2 of cooked quinoa. Sprinkle some shredded mozzarella cheese on top and enjoy!

I love black beans! Best thing ever!!
  • I love Black Beans! Absolutely adore them. Black Bean Salads are some of my favorites, with diced poblano peppers, onions, sweet bell peppers, cilantro, and tossed with a spicy chili vinaigrette! Light + Fresh + All Natural.

I love making black bean chicken chili.

I've used them in salads with guacamole and skipped the salad dressing. That works great.

I eat beans out of the can all the time too! I even like refried black beans refrigerated out of the can too haha I thought I was weird :) I love kidney beans the most, black beans second!
I love putting beans on salads or mixing them with rice and salsa.
